The P1 scanner has been exceptional. Started using the device in April 2024 and it has met all expectations. The hardware is lightweight, but it is a powerful device. Be sure to take advantage of the heavy duty case provided.
Firmware updates have been very helpful. The FJD team continues to support their product well and are very responsive to queries and giving advice. The Trion model software works great and has gotten even better with recent software updates. It’s great to have a reasonably priced product that is well supported. It is important to understand the limits of the device so that you can optimize your data collection. It’s very satisfying to get a processed point cloud where all features line up very well….especially when the hardware and software makes georeferencing so EASY. Just follow the rules.
The easy classification of the point cloud is one of my favourite features of the Trion model software.
I look forward to more projects with this device and continued support from the FJD team.
